Qul huwa Allahu ahad,
Allahu-s-samad,
Lam yalid walam yoolad,
Walam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad.

Say, “He is Allah, the One;
Allah, the Eternal Refuge.
He neither begets nor is born,
Nor is there to Him any equivalent.”

This Surah is the essence of Tawheed (monotheism) — it declares that Allah is One, eternal, and self-sufficient. It rejects all forms of polytheism and likens none to Him.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“By Him in Whose Hand my life is, it is equal to one-third of the Quran.”

2. Surah Al-Falaq (The Daybreak)

وَمِن شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ
وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ
Transliteration:
Qul a‘ūdhu bi rabbil-falaq,
Min sharri ma khalaq,
Wa min sharri ghāsiqin idhā waqab,
Wa min sharri an-naffāthāti fil ‘uqad,
Wa min sharri ḥāsidin idhā ḥasad.
English Translation:
Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak,
From the evil of what He has created,
And from the evil of darkness when it settles,
And from the evil of those who blow on knots,
And from the evil of an envier when he envies.”
Meaning and Lessons:
This Surah is a dua for protection from all forms of external harm — such as jealousy, black magic, and unseen evil.
It reminds us that while evil exists, true safety lies only with Allah, the Lord of dawn, who brings light after darkness.

الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ
مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ
Transliteration:
Qul a‘ūdhu birabbin-nās,
Malikin-nās,
Ilāhin-nās,
Min sharri-lwaswāsi-lkhannās,
Alladhī yuwaswisu fī ṣudūri-n-nās,
Mina-ljinnati wa-n-nās.
English Translation:
Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,
The King of mankind,
The God of mankind,
From the evil of the whisperer who withdraws,
Who whispers in the hearts of mankind,
Among jinn and among mankind.”

This Surah is a powerful protection from internal harm — such as waswas (evil whispers), doubts, and temptations.
It teaches that only Allah is our Lord, King, and God, and only He can guard our hearts from Satanic influence.
